TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 7
Catharsis is something that people talk about in terms of artistry. The audience shares in the catharsis of the artist, in sharing the work from their own emotional viewpoint. Catharsis involves opening up and shedding, mostly negative feelings, and feeling made anew having accepted them by acknowledging and celebrating them.
“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” George Bernard Shaw
Blushing
You look into my eyes,
And it is so direct and clear,
I blush,
You see a rose opening,
It does not close overnight,
Like some flowers,
But opens towards you,
In longing,
For the rose is a Romantic,
Witten about in legend,
And in song for its Romantic nature.
A rose blooming,
I feel shy and awkward,
Although it is the thing I want,
So you must lull me
And make me calm,
Before you love me,
Even as my blossoms
Lean towards you,
Desirous of you.
And so, I blush,
As in your eyes is love,
But not the love of a child,
Or a sibling or a friend,
But the love of a husband.
You are my friend,
And my companion,
But in your steely eye,
I see a smoky desire,
A longing stronger than pining,
And I am vanquished,
At your first touch,
But you are still not fulfilled,
Until your last.
I know this now,
Something I did not know before,
And so I blush in anticipation,
As I feel the longing too,
But more as thirst to be quenched,
By water,
Than smoky fires of desire.
“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.” Leonardo da Vinci
