STONEHENGE POEM 5
The sun is bright and we are working away.
“Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door. ” Coco Chanel
The Briefest Time
So soon from the cradle we are eased,
The noontide sleep no longer our aid,
It is the briefest time our infancy,
Before the shelter of childhood ceased.
So too is time brief of the flame of love,
It burns so strongly there is no air,
Around the fixed mark of fate,
We find with time the heart begins to rove.
So while I love you with a passion strong,
As comfort eases its way towards our bed,
I know the blood will slow so too the breath,
Till every spoken thought of mine is wrong.
I must conclude as every person must,
That to enjoy the moment is the only way,
For all too soon the seasons also change,
And it is only in this that we may trust.
“Nothing endures but change.” Heraclitus
