TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 41
So the day draws to a close, as Advent begins. We eagerly anticipate celebrating Christmas, a time for joy and remembrance. So what will we do in the New Year? What promise will we make to ourselves in resolution of change? We will see ...
“Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it.” René Descartes
In Your Eyes
Beyond this I do not know,
In what perpetual light,
We stand or where it leads,
Is only for the sooth.
In your eyes I see the future,
The way of the World,
Fixed on a map with the route
Clear and marked.
We cannot bypass our fate,
And so we tread deeply,
Marking our history,
As deep snow with our tread.
To where do we head?
What life do we lead?
The very core of meaning
Is revealed in a smile.
“A certain readiness to perish is not so very rare, but it is seldom that you meet men whose souls, steeled in the impenetrable armour of resolution, are ready to fight a losing battle to the last, the desire of peace waxes stronger as hope declines, till at last it conquers the very desire of life." Joseph Conrad
