TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 38
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. We all have a lot to be thankful for, so this is a day to remember what we are grateful for. The land gives us food if we care for it - so we are grateful for both the produce of the land and those that maintain it for us. It is often a time to be thankful for what your family does for you - or a friend who has helped you. Pets and other loved people are also included often.
“Our rural ancestors, with little blest, Patient of labor when the end was rest, Indulged the day that housed their annual grain, With feasts, and off'rings, and a thankful strain.” Alexander Pope
Down The Lane
I followed you,
To see where it is you go,
For I missed you,
And for this I needed to know.
I followed you,
Down a lane,
Past a church,
Past a pond.
Imagine what I happened upon?
A flock of birds were greeting you,
And handfuls of bread they supped on,
As our treasure delighted at their squawks.
Well how am I to take in such a sight?
Filled with delight as I am.
For the birds had their bread amongst
Peals of laughter and song.
“The most fortunate are those who have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder and even ecstasy.” Abraham Maslow
