TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 33
When you are feeling down, sometimes it helps to turn to the work of an artist, to feel that someone else felt the same as you. This is one of the functions of art, so to portray a true feeling or moment of truth in life is something that even a fledging artist can achieve.
When you're weary, feeling small, when tears are in your eyes I'll dry them all. I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough and friends just can't be found, like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Simon and Garfunkel
Void
Across the gap there is space,
Empty, luscious in its darkness,
Without point or matter,
It is a void, devoid of subject or substance.
Boyish in your absistence are you,
Clinging onto an unknown,
Like a principle ratified by philosophy,
Itself intangible and abstract.
Alone on the other side I think of,
Caves and elastic bands,
And think it better to leave well alone,
To leave you to reconcile thought and feeling.
To hound you is what I want,
To make you see my sense,
My perspective being my own,
And yours your own.
Instead I write imperfectly,
To the perfect but prescribed,
And analysed before we met,
As revenge is a dish best left to cool.
“I didn't want to kiss you goodbye — that was the trouble — I wanted to kiss you good night — and there's a lot of difference.” Ernest Hemingway
