TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 3

A harbour to rest in, is something a boat needs. People say we also need a harbour - a metaphor for a person or a place that invites us to be ourselves and relax safely. Artists try to stretch themselves, but you are also looking to be yourself comfortably to express what you are holding inside.

“I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all came from the sea." J.F. Kennedy

Clear Skies

Here we are my love beneath the clear skies!

The land before us contains danger,

And I cling to you tight for safety,

You know the path well so I look to you.

We are both brave in our love for each other,

Vibrant in the ecstasies of our blissful union,

Finding our way in each other so similar,

And yet separated and joined by my fragility.

We drive through the scenery rushing through,

A beauteous and cruel landscape,

Inhabited by the wild and cultivated alike,

Methodical, barren and green at once in the sectioned vastness.

Do we in our optimistic youth mistake the lie of the situation?

Are we, like so many, caught in the romance,

Of the simplicity of an ordered life,

Or do we have a thing fixed and unchangeable,

Within the changing vistas of youth?

It is a clear sky today after all,

But we do not fear as we want to see.

I look to you and I see our hope,

I am not deceived as I can see the whole.

“There isn't no call to go talking of pushing and pulling. Boats are quite tricky enough for those that sit still without looking for further for the cause of trouble.” J.R.R. Tolkien
