TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 2
Everyone needs someone to turn to, when the rain gets you down. It is not inherently the rain, of course, but there is something niggling and somehow the rain traps you. Communication is the key - and that is what artists do all day through different forms. So sometimes, a good book or some poems or a film can take you out of what they call the dumps.
“You dance love, and you dance joy, and you dance dreams. And I know if I can make you smile by jumping over a couple of couches or running through a rainstorm, then I'll be very glad to be a song and dance man.” Gene Kelly
After the Rain
The light no longer dappled,
The wind had moved Imperion’s mist along,
So we could alight our vehicle,
And taste the Summer morn.
Full brazen in our love as if it were secret
And new and the World would be shocked,
By its effulgence alone inescapable in its charm,
And deadly to the core if one should reject the other.
It is my childish nature that burns the oil so,
For I cannot comprehend a betrayal on your part,
That would be akin to my action as this is how we did start,
And any lie you tell me I must like a child believe.
After the rain the Lord opened the Ark,
To let out all the animals two-by-two,
He forgave mankind from then on,
For neglecting what they ought to do.
We were here to love each other and God,
And husband the animals in safety,
Each one of them his and good by nature,
Unlike us and all he asked was for our trust.
I trust you in this childish way,
And in God I trust and pray to him day by day,
So if I err I do not know for you do not tell me so,
But if you were to chide me I do not know to whom I’d go.
So here we are after the rain,
Transformed in love still like new,
Fresh and radiant the grass stands jewelled in dew,
Like the tear fresh in my eyes for you.
“Anger was washed away in the river along with any obligation.” Ernest Hemingway
