TRIP TO WINDSOR CASTLE POEM 16
We are coming towards a period of stories of fairies and magic. It is a bright day and the air is crisp. Inspired by the castle I imagined a fairy tale princess, taken by love. There is a music to love that expresses itself in the gait and in the eyes. Expressions tend to get bigger and emotions swell faster. Love is the perennial interest of the poet. Intoxicating and possessing as it is.
"A lady's imagination is very rapid; It jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment." Jane Austen
The Princess in the Tower
By the window she sat,
Her curved body swaying,
As if in time with the trees and the birds.
The hum of her gait,
Melodious of itself,
Revealed a melancholy new to her shape.
What was the sinuous bend,
The curve of her nape wept like the willow?
It was love – love at first glance.
"He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Emily Bronte
