TRIP TO HISTORICAL BATH POEM 9
Intimacy can be difficult, as it shows you more about yourself than you are used to. In poetry you sometimes get close to people too - a heightened level of intimacy is achieved with the reader. How you react to that intimacy is the thing that changes, if you concentrate on it, through therapy for example. This is also true of the arts, for revealing all becomes a matter of confession, rather than exposure.
“They slipped briskly into an intimacy from which they never recovered.” F. Scott Fitzgerald
Too Bright
When I look at you my dear,
Sometimes the light is too bright,
It sears through my pupils,
And I feel caution bridled by love.
There is no reason to fear my dear,
As all I know is you and your smile,
And while it may seem I meander
Through our life, it is closer I grow.
For fear of loss I cling to you,
There is no remedy immediate,
As that is how we are,
And jealous of the hour.
Of the minute I count as blessings,
But as we grown more familiar,
Our blessed moments are more dependency,
So how shall we proceed?
“It is not time or opportunity that is to determine intimacy;—it is disposition alone. Seven years would be insufficient to make some people acquainted with each other, and seven days are more than enough for others.” Jane Austen
