TRIP TO HISTORICAL BATH POEM 7
Hope is an abstract concept common with love. It leads us to act charitably and with optimism. We talk about hope a lot in Christmastime and often celebrate this with parties and donations, to focus us on the period. They say you must never give up hope and this does seem to be true.
“Hope is the thing with feathers, That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson
Brighter Days
We wander through the day,
Sometimes half-witted from fatigue,
Holding steadfast to the line,
We drew before we began our travail.
What spurs you on?
The thing I hold most dear I cling to,
Refreshed in your presence,
The lark sings once more.
Before the dawn we wake,
To make sweet amends for our loss,
Entangled as we are in process,
Persistent in our need as a child.
There will be brighter days,
But will there be those more cherished?
I think not, as comforts are few,
But love is therefore all the more sweet.
“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” William Faulkner
