TRIP TO HISTORICAL BATH POEM 33
Sometimes there can be too much thought in your head. So writing it down can help you order it and understand better. This is a form of catharsis available to the poet - it is only in hindsight having written it that you know.
“I have often had a retrospective vision where everything in my past life seems to fall with significance into logical sequence.” Ansel Adams
Work In Progress
What will join us together?
Beyond what we are,
And what we are made of,
A series of what.
I do not know what it is,
That joins a shaft of light,
Particular and independent,
Its form illuminates in its movement.
They cannot separate us,
For we are no longer two,
We are as the days of the week,
Ordered by number and accordance.
Abruptly and harshly they spoke,
But there is no persuasion,
In the face of the impossible,
Metaphorically and metaphysically,
Combined.
“Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings.” W.H. Auden
