TRIP TO HISTORICAL BATH POEM 3
Daily writing is a good method to keep to for all, they say. To diarise, for example, is a way to see into yourself and your habits. Only when you see yourself and the way you think and act is it possible to change that. A struggle that would be indeed, but to act entirely without consciousness of action is a risk at best.
“Be steady and well-ordered in your life so that you can be fierce and original in your work.” Gustave Flaubert
Travail
Perhaps it is a trick of the light,
Betwixt the pillars I can see,
An open square with a figure,
Standing there staring back at me.
For there you are waiting expectantly,
But as if it were for me unarranged,
For we have made no plan to meet,
So to come across you in the street is strange.
Why do you stare so when I am,
Already won and at your disposal?
I also stare hungrily knowing you are mine,
But here you are next to me as close as kin.
Beyond this is nothing for you are all,
You are my daily work and spread,
For you love me as your own and so,
I am the richer for it as well as you.
“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action. ” William James
