TRIP TO HISTORIC BATH POEM 25

Christmas is over and we look to our New Year's Resolution. What is it that we would change with optimism, hope and dedication? There are only a few days left.

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” Mahatma Ghandi

Pursue

What do we pursue my love,

So long looking and searching,

As if dry-mouthed we sustenance seek,

Half-aware in a desert abandoned?

Walking up the staircase it spirals,

So the sensation of progress is stalled,

Rising up only by degrees unnumbered,

As if trapped in a dream recurrent.

Beware of your thoughts as they trail,

And release your secrets as we listen,

Intently wanting to find you out,

So we can triumph over you.

I will pursue you and trap you,

You will not get away if you try,

For here I am again in your dreams,

As you too can never escape the subconscious.

“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own souls. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” Carl Jung
