TRIP TO HISTORIC BATH POEM 49
There is little to see in the park as the animals and plants are asleep still. There is a beauty to the dark forms of the leafless trees against the sky - one that is rugged and quiet.
A tree says: My strength is trust. Herman Hesse
A Fountain
Above the fountain stood an urn,
Graceful in proportions,
Appropriate in its majesty,
And apt in its weary message.
The rounded line of the base,
Gave way to the nape-like stem,
To join to a bowl bearing its
Own nape with arms before the lip.
What is contained within the shape?
It is the heavens moistened by
The dew and resting there within,
The sweet caress of life therein.
Peacefully I look on seeing:
The horizon beyond,
And trees scaling the hill,
All in the view of this vessel.
“To dwellers in a wood, almost every species of tree has its voice as well as its feature.” Thomas Hardy
