TRIP TO HISTORIC BATH POEM 42

The sun was shining. The light was bright and penetrating. To see the life in the grass was to contrast with the resting trees. Spring is coming!

“The tongue may hide the truth but the eyes—never!” Mikhail Bulgakov

Situation

So we have a situation here,

Before we shoot the gun,

We should look a little harder,

To see what we have won.

My hand in yours, our rivers,

Combine grooved in life,

To be read by the wise,

And to be seen beyond through clasped.

Our eyes meet and we know,

There is no use in lies,

Because our fervour shows,

Beneath the cool and obscure.

For what are we gunning?

It is for our life itself,

How will we know it?

We will know for it shall be true.

“The truth, he thought, has never been of any real value to any human being - it is a symbol for mathematicians and philosophers to pursue. In human relations kindness and lies are worth a thousand truths.” Graham Greene
