TRIP TO HISTORIC BATH POEM 38
Is Winter Wintersome like tired is tiresome? The days are short and feel longer for the weather and perhaps the Winter is Wintersome. The poet does not tire of complaining, for his complaint is heard and repeated. So I will complain.
“Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.” Benjamin Franklin
From The Rafters
I want to shout it from the rafters,
And yet I dare not for the neighbours,
May find it disconcerting that you love me,
As you so wrote in your despicable hand.
There is nothing so very rare in putting,
Pen to paper and an ode is very smart,
I admit but I cannot fathom how,
To keep secret my delight to know.
All maidens have a nape and it joins,
To the arms and all this and more,
Is covered with a soften skin than man,
So rare it is to you, I find it commonplace.
So here I sit concerned as your love,
Is of an idol stereotyped and printed,
But what of the lady anxious waiting,
To know it is her that you contemplate?
“Still, you must especially avoid those who are gloomy and always lamenting, and who grasp at every pretext for complaint. Though a man's loyalty and kindness may not be in doubt, a companion who is agitated and groaning about everything is an enemy to peace of mind.” Seneca
