TRIP TO HISTORIC BATH POEM 26
The sky was thick and grey today - the earth was sodden and heavy. Sometimes the light does not shine so brightly from the Sun and we must find our way in relative darkness. This is when the metaphor of candle light is so important to us - a light that shows us the way.
“Enlightenment means taking full responsibility for your life.” William Blake
Chandelier
A light shines to light us in the
Darkness furtive and close thick
With secrecy and the incense of wonder,
That cloaks and penetrates our pores.
This preserves us and serves to cleanse us,
Our hearts true but full of the iniquity
Of the World not ours but of ours,
Chaste but not knowing of true pain.
An agony is awaiting us but it but
The figment of the imagination a feeling
Of doubt like a filament cracked in a
Bulb hastily hot and seared till broken.
We shall not die for our love sustains us,
Beyond that pale insignificance of rest,
Assured only to the true for their place,
So tried that life is a tempest overwrought.
“And when the dawn comes creeping in, Cautiously I shall raise Myself to watch the daylight win.” D.H. Lawrence
