TRIP TO ELTHAM PALACE POEM 32
Do you choose your path? Probably not - there are a series of pathways before you, made by circumstance, responsibility and culture, to mention a few. They talk of the straight and narrow path and the wide path, in contrast to each other. So, when we think about a path, choice is implied. There are two paths in that metaphor. This is probably oversimplified to get the message across, but there is a spiritual element to it that is clear - habit, as I was talking about yesterday, leads you down a path. So choose wisely!
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.” Gautama Buddha
Our Path
Between two trees,
Lay a path as long as time,
And as wide as experience,
We stepped on the slabs of stone,
Confident in our youth,
And supple in body.
We took the straight path,
My love,
So we knew where it led,
Beyond ourselves,
And growing together,
We found a perfection of our own.
A perfection of moments,
Trailing like a beaded necklace,
Around the curve of the neck,
Leading the eye to its nape,
The trail of a pathway,
To an unknown icon at the top of
One hundred steps.
“When the path ignites a soul, there's no remaining in place. The foot touches ground, but not for long." Hakim Sanai
