TRIP TO ELTHAM PALACE POEM 13

The stars are thought to be celestial - you can wish upon a star and hope for your wish to come true! Looking up at the sky, on a clear night, you can see the zodiac. Tracing the lines between the light, you can see the bear for example. When you look up to someone it feels that way sometimes too, but be careful what you wish for - as it might come true!

The Moat

I need a boat to get to you,

So far in the distance,

And at such a great height.

To reach you would be

To navigate to the stars,

You are so impenetrably protected.

If I were to run across the bridge

Would I be shot down?

Or would an imperium of guards

Assail me and put me on trial?

So encased in policy and procedure,

Your horse and you are armoured

And ready for battle.

To penetrate this armoury would be

To siege a fort,

Your bridge rises so fast.

So I amble, I glide and I sigh,

To the greener grass of home.
