SONGS
I wrote two poems as if they were songs, like the ones that I sing sometimes, but of my own imagination. I love the songs of Brahms the most, but I did not try to copy it, but write it in a song form. They are inspired by nature and so are by nature Romantic!
"But he who dares not grasp the thorn should never crave the rose." Anne Bronte
The Rose
She grew up in the entrail of the hyacinth,
Perfumed and elegant she was not choaked by his woody stem.
His rough surface surrounded her,
It was not death, but nourishment.
She longed for the blue sky she saw,
So rooted in the earth she felt a loss,
In the gaze of that opulence,
Her longing could not be assuaged,
Like her thirst for water until the evening came.
She reached up to the sky day by day,
As she inched nearer her desire grew,
To touch the radiance of him,
Only marred by the clouds who jealousy hid him.
He had no perfume, but glistened like petals,
When they were kissed by the rain.
Clipped by the gardener, she gave up hope,
She was never to touch his iridescent blue,
Aghast, she withered, unable to drink, she wilted.
Oh poor, poor Rose who never touched the sky!
"There was something rather blousy about roses in full bloom, something shallow and raucous, like women with untidy hair". Daphne du Maurier
