SALISBURY PERSPECTIVES POEM 27
The cloud obscures the sun and the pleasant warm is a relief.
"The light touched something green in the window corner and made it a lump of emerald, a cave of pure green like stoneless fruit. It sharpened the edges of chairs and tables and stitched white table-cloths with fine gold wires." Virginia Woolf
Our End
If you fix your eyes on the horizon,
You will see me standing there,
As if I were only distant and fixed,
A mark on that line beyond time.
There is nothing in this world,
That requires more than love,
If you trust it you can keep it,
You can hold it in your hands.
The sunlight streams through your fingers,
More foolish than water itself,
Dragging through the cup of your hand,
Quickly so as to lose it entirely.
So is life if you do not hold it,
Each breath passes through exhaled,
Unnoticed till it stops a last gasp,
Our end is not final for we meet God.
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Helen Keller
