SALISBURY PERSPECTIVES POEM 25
The sun shines on again, an inevitability reassuring and gay.
"For man, as for flower and beast and bird, the supreme triumph is to be most vividly, most perfectly alive." D. H. Lawrence
Perplexing
How did what was so endearing,
Turn to monotony and strife?
A pact based on strategy,
Loosened by familiarity.
It is perplexing to see,
Our life so simply tarried,
Pulled apart distended,
Useless and wretched.
An empty triumph,
Fuelled by ambition,
Leads another to fruition,
Perhaps a lasting victory?
When looking at glass,
We see a reflection,
As I stare in that pool,
I see you.
"When you look at a piece of delicately spun glass you think of two things: how beautiful it is and how easily it can be broken." Tennessee Williams
