SALISBURY PERSPECTIVES POEM 13
The heat stills upon the ground and we all slow down.
"It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view." George Eliot
Perspective
How am I to understand someone so very tall?
I see the scene as it is but yours is a great height,
I cannot climb the difference to see,
What it is you perceive in order to agree.
From my perspective I see along a path to a gate,
Beyond the gate the field gives way to road,
Stationary vehicles line this to an angle,
The apex of the field vanishes for the distance.
Do you only see sky as you are at this advantage?
Your head in the clouds perhaps the world is blue,
The cottony white floating into view,
Can you see that I am standing next to you?
I can see you clearly and there is quite a view.
"Distance has the same effect on the mind as on the eye." Samuel Johnson
