SALISBURY PERSPECTIVES POEM 12
A walk in the park and another poem!
"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it." Winston S. Churchill
The Mound
Upon the hillock is an ancient stone,
A memorial of a time long ago,
Still standing erect weathered,
The passing of time etched upon it.
We too are a memorial written in ink,
Upon this paper a witness to the times,
We stand before the mound quietly,
Acknowledging the history of our kind.
As we walk towards this ancient pile,
Solemn in our stance and open in our heart,
Do we know in which ritual we partake,
Together knowing and unknowingly comply?
This is our history complete and sound,
What we can understand is shaped,
By our own knowledge and our concern,
So before the mound we shape the stone.
"The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts." Marcus Aurelius
