SALISBURY PERSPECTIVES POEM 1
Another book, some new perspectives and looking into oneself I find more.
"Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate." J. R. R. Tolkien
The Gate
Our prospects high we open the gate and enter,
There is no opportunity greater than this,
To walk through the field on a Summer’s day,
Our broad horizon before us to exploit.
There is no greater bliss than this today,
The wide expanse like our deeper mind,
Full ready to plunder and explore before,
Its maturation makes it fixed and still.
There is no comparison apt enough to explain,
The feeling of elation at the beginning,
Of this plot a time to find the greatness,
Of the mind by following others in kind.
Our prospects high we open the gate and enter,
We triumph over doubt and latent pain,
Together we will learn to do so much more,
Before us came such great progress,
And we will do the same.
“Escape? There is one unwatched way: your eyes. O Beauty! Keep me good that secret gate.” Wilfred Owen
