SALISBURY LANDSCAPES POEM 6
Oh no! The rain! It is necessary no doubt but it is back again! So here we are waiting to go back out across the countryside to find somewhere else to explore, but it rains and it rains!
“Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards.” Vladimir Nabokov
Fenced In
Walking across the broad seems limitless,
But as one broaches the hectare we find
Ourselves fenced in for our protection,
Barbed against curiosity we must find the path.
Traipsing backwards towards the walkway,
We find a familiar scene and continue along,
There is little pleasure in life than this,
But we can seal that moment with a kiss.
A kiss stolen in a field is special for its spontaneity,
Unplanned as it is we did hope for a quiet spot,
But fortune must play a hand or leave us quite
Destitute for romance will have passed us by.
Abroad a style you hold my hand to steady my way,
A courtesy unnecessary but all the more gallant,
For its kindness and my hand remembers this touch,
Without which the fences may not seem so brave.
“I'm gonna love you, Till the heavens, Stop the rain. I'm gonna, Love you, Till the stars, Fall from the sky, For you and I”. Jim Morrison
