SALISBURY JUNCTIONS POEM 5

To act rashly in the heat is normal, our natural temper augmented by the Summer long. It is normal to break into a tantrum, rather than to simmer in anger. All our emotions come to breaking point sometimes and the heat is no help in that.

"Those who cannot understand how to put their thoughts on ice should not enter into the heat of debate." Friedrich Nietzsche

The Bush

A thorny issue from my heart,

I must approach you on this point,

For to plunder a treasure is a risk,

There is no return from true love’s kiss.

You gave your heart and I gave mine,

The best of me and also yours,

The choice inevitable was made of course,

The boldest brass a tarnished coin.

There is a bristle to my love,

A bite that no one can penetrate,

For though I love my heart is hard,

Unsafe to all as the prick is death.

Before you make your great attempt,

To leap the fence so sturdily erect,

Understand that although we are well met,

Our thorny situation is sure to hurt.

"Heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The Eternal." Dante Alighieri
