REVERIE POEM 4
Nature, love and happiness! I am at my best on a hike or immersed in nature - the blood rushes around your body as you pant from running up the hill and the vista reminds you of the perspective you can have.
"Live in each season as it passes, breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth." Henry David Thoreau
Traipsing
Traipsing along the path
We came to no view
But each other
The sun shone
And life began anew
Here was something
That I knew.
Continuing along the stony trail
We tripped and stumbled
the path seemed never-ending
But the crunch and the smells
Of pleasant water and sweet-acrid
Green sustained us.
The book in my bag grew heavy
A clearing dense and heavy
Came to view
Throwing the packs down
We became anew in our love
Throwing remembrances around
We found our exact copy
There within
Live was not thin, it was thick.
"Our task must be to free ourselves ... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace al living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty." Albert Einstein
The longing to be part of something is in most of us. We are part of something if we look around and see our friends in nature and animals. I enjoy living in the town but I must say that the very best times I have are usually surrounded by the countryside - even our meals taste better having had a good walk!
