Partitions
A moment by the sea, a wandering hand and the frustration of life. The divides between us that we bridge with words and communications. Only in the moment are we aware of our true connection and then it can be lost.
Extinguish
Perhaps it is life itself that drags along the shore,
A score of thoughts
Racing through a mind
Is as liquid as my love for you,
And yet perpetual thought
Is not enough
As I pen my ode,
A thousand fires
Should burn
In effigy to our love,
A rain of daggers
Through my soul pierce,
It is an end,
Not a beginning,
Completeness complete.
A brilliant light,
A chasm open,
Dark and verdant –
Tropic in extension and capacity,
Shall we lose ourselves
In its depths,
Or shall we find a kindred hope
In the suffering of our body,
Deep in its desire
And futile in its attempts,
We shall gain nothing,
No understanding,
No priority,
No pleasure,
Groping in the darkness,
We find nothing but the end.
Countries conquered are lain to waste,
Ravaged and besieged,
Giving up its last,
It betrays itself to another.
In what life do we live my love?
Are we ghosts?
We are not
And yet our pallor suggests a death
Beyond the grasp of earthly things.
It is in this liquid
That we hold life,
But therein
Was our death contained.
"Pembroke's Rugged Peninsula - The towering cliffs, sandy covers and thrusting headlands of the Pembroke coast have an unsurpassed beauty, and are of special interest to the naturalist. Though less mountainous than other parts of Wales, the inland scenery is no less impressive, with moorlands rising gently to the Preseli hills. Stone Age forts and Norman castles reflect the area's ancient history." Reader's Digest Touring Guide to Britain
Standing on the cliffs in Wales reminded me of another time that I was on a cliff by the sea. Young love and the feelings that came about in an innocent fashion will never leave me. Partitions explores this and the worry of existence.
